Diabetes & Weight Loss Medications

If you are currently taking any diabetes or weight loss medications, you may be required to stop taking these drugs up to a week prior to your procedure.

These medications can delay stomach emptying which could be associated with an increased risk of inhaling stomach contents into the airways and lungs during anesthesia. This could result in serious complications. Not stopping these medications may result in your procedure being cancelled.
